Clemson softball score updates vs. Virginia in ACC tournament

CLEMSON – No. 5 seed Clemson softball opens play in the ACC Tournament against No. 4 seed Virginia on Thursday at Duke Softball Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.

The Tigers (33-16, 15-9 ACC) were tied for fourth place in the conference with the Cavaliers (32-17, 15-9), but they lost two of three games to them and lost the tiebreaker. Seven Clemson players, including Valerie Cagle, have earned All-ACC honors this year as they look to win their first conference tournament. Clemson has reached the ACC Tournament finals in two of the past three seasons, but lost both times.

The Cavaliers ended their season by winning two of three against Georgia Tech. Three players earned all-conference honors, including Eden Bigham and Jade Hylton, who received first-team honors as sophomores.

The winner of Thursday’s quarterfinals (ACC Network, 1:30 p.m. ET) will face the winner between No. 1 seed Duke and No. 9 seed Boston College in Friday’s semifinals.
