News | Hockey summer 2024

The countdown to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games has officially begun, and with less than 90 days until both our GB teams take center stage in Paris, now is the time to get involved and inspire the next generation of hockey fans.

England Hockey’s, Summer of Hockey 2024, gives clubs and schools the chance to celebrate the excitement and introduce their local community and children to the game.

Below are some ways you can get involved this summer:

‘Buddy up’ with your local school

Partner with your local school and ignite the passion for hockey in the next generation. Inspire the children with PE, lunch clubs, after-school activities or even Olympic meets.

This is a great opportunity to get kids involved who may not have had the opportunity to enjoy hockey before.

Grab a stick

Organize “#Pickupastick” open days for your local community and encourage them to pick up a stick and play hockey in a fun, friendly and welcoming environment.

There are loads of things you can do at a Pick Up a Stick Open Day: taster sessions for different age groups, Olympic watch parties, barbecues, social competitions, walking hockey and skills sessions.

Join Jess and Jasper on an epic hockey adventure!

A fun and educational tool, intended to get 5-11 year olds excited about the Olympic Games this summer. Our two mascots, Jess and Jasper, will take your children on an action-packed hockey adventure.

A range of fun challenges and activities within the resource can be used during your club sessions or simply shared with the children so they can enjoy the booklet at home with their families.

Clubs are not making exact plans at this time, but by registering your interest, England Hockey will send your club the relevant activation packs to bring your activity to life.
