Where Florida Baseball Stands in the 2024 NCAA Tournament

It amounts to a six-game season for Florida baseball.

If the Florida Gators (25-23, 10-14 SEC) want to secure their 16th NCAA tournament appearance under head coach Kevin O’Sullivan, UF will need to go 3-3 in its final two SEC series against No. 5 Kentucky and No. 12 Georgia.

To qualify for a region, teams must finish with a record above .500. UF’s strong schedule will likely earn the Gators a bid if they finish above .500. But that won’t be an easy task as Florida faces two ranked teams and hasn’t won an SEC series since going 2 of 3 against Mississippi State from March 29-31.

Florida bounced back from a 2-of-3 loss at home to Tennessee over the weekend with a 4-1 win over USF on Tuesday night. Six UF pitchers combined to limit the Bulls to one run on five hits. Lefty Cade Fisher (3-2) pitched 2.2 innings to get the win, while righty Brandon Neely returned to the bullpen to earn his second save of the season.

“We’re back to the drawing board,” O’Sullivan said. “That’s not for a lack of trying to push every button; all we’re trying to do now is put everyone in a position to be successful.”

On offense, two-time Florida star Jac Caglianone went 2-for-4 and hit his 27th home run to extend his hit streak to 27 games.

Here’s a look at where Florida baseball stands in the latest postseason projections:

What is Florida Baseball RPI?

According to Warren Nolan Baseball, Florida’s RPI stands at 23 despite its 25-23 record. The Gators have been playing at the No. 1 strength in the country. Florida is 10-14 against Quad 1 opponents, 2-6 against Quad 2 teams, 3-2 against Quad 3 teams and 10-1 against Quad 4 teams.

Where Baseball America projects Florida baseball in the 2024 NCAA Tournament?

Baseball America projects Florida as one of the final four teams in the NCAA Tournament in the latest mock bracket. Florida would travel to Tallahassee Regional as a No. 3 seed in a field that would include top seed Florida State, No. 2 seed Troy and No. 4 seed Bethune-Cookman.

Where D1 Baseball projects Florida baseball into the 2024 NCAA Tournament

D1 Baseball projects Florida as the No. 3 seed in the Durham Regional, with host Duke as the No. 1 seed. UC Irvine would be the No. 2 seed and Columbia, a team UF swept earlier this season, would be the No. 4 seed.
