New Swiss Army Knife Won’t Have This Relevant Feature, CEO Says It’s in ‘Early Development Stages’ | Popular

The Swiss Army Knife is known worldwide for its incredible properties. However, the makers of this tool are now working on a new version that does not have a blade. CEO Carl Elsener Jr. told Swiss media outlet Blick that he is concerned about increasingly strict regulations on knives in many markets.

Speaking to CNN, a spokesperson for Swiss company Victorinox said: “We are in the early stages of developing bladeless pocket tools. With innovation at the core of our brand, we continually listen to our consumers and their needs and recognize that there is an appetite for the functionality, versatility and craftsmanship that the Swiss Army Knife is known for in more specialized areas and situations.”

Elsener himself cited UK laws, which the government is considering introducing amid growing concerns about the incidence of knife crime. Elsener stated that the company is developing new tools for certain sports or outdoor activities, including cycling, and underlined the fact that in some countries knives are considered weapons rather than tools, CNN reported.

He told the news channel: ‘In England and certain Asian countries you are sometimes only allowed to carry a knife if you need it to do your job or work outside the home. to go to the cinema, or to go shopping, carrying pocket knives is severely restricted.”

He added: “I have a cool tool in mind for cyclists. We already have a tool specifically for golfers in our range. Cyclists probably need special tools, but not necessarily a knife.”

Karl Elsener founded the Victorinox in 1884 and it has been passed down from generation to generation. The company has introduced new product lines in recent years, including socks, watches and fragrances, in an effort to offset the effects of the Swiss franc.
