Mike Perry Rejects Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Match on Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson Card for substandard payout

Streaming giant Netflix’s foray into boxing action kicks off later this year with Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson. That said, the rest of the card is being put together as we speak. BKFC icon Mike Perry was one such fighter who was approached to be on the fight card. Unfortunately, he turned down the fight for an important reason.

‘Platinum’ recently joined Ariel Helwani on the ‘MMA Hour’. During their interview, the two men make Perry’s next fight. The former UFC champion joined BKFC in 2022 after retiring from the UFC and has been extremely successful ever since. But he has revealed that despite the world’s eyes on the event, he turned down a chance to be on the same card as Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.

“So there were some things on the table. The pay wasn’t incredible. Especially considering the opponent, a very experienced boxer. Obviously, I was like, Oh, I’m interested in being on the Mike Tyson Netflix card. To get that exposure against this certified know professional boxer. But the money, there was another option that had more money and might open more doors. There were some stimuli involved that I thought would be more interesting.

Oh, and he wasn’t kidding about fighting an experienced boxer. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. would be his opponent this evening.

Good for Perry. The man’s face was blown to pieces while fighting bare-knuckle in BFKC. So if he ascribes a certain value to himself, he obviously shouldn’t settle for less. But this begs the question: how much does he normally make in his BKFC fights?

How much does Mike Perry make in his BKFC fights?

Perry has had a successful career as a bare-knuckle fighter so far. He is currently 5-0 with wins over Michael ‘Venom’ Page, Luke Rockhold and more. In his most recent outing against Thiago Alves, Perry earned an impressive $600,000. But if that surprises you, wait until you hear what he said to Eddie Alvarez.

Perry is said to have earned a whopping $1.1 million. Yes, that’s almost double. For the uninitiated, your profile and pay structure are highly dependent on who you fight. Alvarez is an MMA legend, so he brought more attention to the game. Hence the pay increase.

So if Perry vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. would fight, the money better be worth it.
