  • Twisters will be released in theaters on July 19
  • The disaster film is a standalone sequel to the 1996 film Twister, starring Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Jami Gertz and Cary Elwes.

Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones teamed up to chase a massive tornado in a new trailer released Wednesday for the upcoming disaster sequel Twisters.

The trailer for the Universal Pictures film opened at a rodeo in Oklahoma, where a crowd watched a bull rider until swirling leaves entered the arena, followed by a storm siren.

The animals fled with the crowd and a truck trying to drive away from the chaos was lifted by the wind and thrown against an electrical sign.

“A once-in-a-generation tornado outbreak continues across Oklahoma,” a TV weatherman reported as Kate Cooper, played by 25-year-old English actress Daisy, watched the storm from afar at a federal weather bureau.

A supervisor asked Kate for tornado help after he admitted he had never seen tornadoes like them.

“No, I don’t hunt anymore,” Kate said.

After being told her help could save lives, Kate reluctantly agreed to give him a week.

Kate joined NASA and FEMA experts in Oklahoma and was surprised when self-proclaimed ‘tornado wrangler’ Tyler Owens, played by Glen, 35, arrived.

“If you feel it,” Tyler told his adoring fans.

“Go after it!” they shouted back.

Tyler told Kate that his crew was different and didn’t need fancy equipment and doctoral degrees.

“Sometimes the old ways are better than the new,” Tyler said.

“Well, you can always trust a man who puts his face on a T-shirt,” Kate joked as a shirt was shown with an image of Tyler and the phrase “Not My First Tornadeo.”

Tyler shot fireworks into a tornado, much to Kate’s surprise, and told her, “You’ve got quite a reputation, city girl.”

He later questioned Kate about her theory that she can disrupt a tornado.

She admitted that she did her test in the field incorrectly.

“We never had a chance,” Kate said.

‘Do you want one?’ Tyler asked.

Then they both chased a tornado together which turned out to be a double storm system.

“They combine,” Kate warned.

Kate and Tyler were shown in a city called Reno when a tornado touched down and took down a water tower.

They raced past an oil refinery that was torn apart by a tornado as the trailer ended.
