Fiji organizes surfing competition

Fiji will host the World Surf League Corona Fiji Pro in August.

Brent Hill, CEO of Tourism Fiji, said this at the opening of the Fiji Tourism Exchange (FTE) at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort on Denarau Island, Nadi.

“At Tourism Fiji we also want to show that Fiji can host major events that attract attention around the world,” said Hill.

“We held our first Spartan Fiji event in November 2023, with over 3,300 people in attendance. We then hosted the first NRL match in Fiji when our Melbourne Storm defeated the Knights in front of almost 6,000 fans in February.

“And the big one: after a lot of hard work and negotiation, we are happy to hold the World Surf League Corona Fiji Pro in August 2024.”

Mr Hill said the event would attract the best surfers in the world and put Fiji and our beautiful islands and ocean on stage around the world.

“Not to mention, of course, the legendary Kelly Slater will be back in Fiji for what may be his last ever event on his favorite wave.”
