Betty Jane Guzzo – Duluth News Tribune

With a warm smile, sparkling eyes and a heart full of love for her family, Betty Jane Guzzo began her eternal journey on April 30, 2024, at the age of 93. Born on July 2, 1930 in Duluth, Minnesota, Betty’s life was a tapestry of joy, laughter and cherished memories.

Duluth was her beloved home, the place where she pursued her passions for sports, bowling, crafts and word puzzles. Her competitive spirit shone through on the bowling alleys and her creativity blossomed with every project she undertook. Betty’s love of game shows was contagious, and you could often find her favorite contestants cheering on with excitement.

After a fulfilling career that included several positions, Betty retired from AT&T as a telephone operator, where her gentle voice and warm attitude touched countless lives. Her life was enriched by the love and support of her family, including her children Cathy (Mark) Rihel, James (Shannon) Guzzo, Steve and Greg Guzzo, as well as her grandchildren John, Ryan, Jason, Lance, Anthony, Jesse, Becky, Roxanne and Savannah, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Betty’s journey has been marked by unwavering strength and resilience as she was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, son Richard Gustafson and life partner Tom Carlson. Their memories lived on through the stories she shared and the love she gave to those around her.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Betty’s caregivers, Heather, Savannah, Sandy, Allie, Angela, Alyssa, Katelyn, Alana, KariAnne, Gina and Caitlynn, whose compassionate care and unwavering devotion provided comfort and comfort during her final days. .

Betty Jane Guzzo’s legacy will be forever etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her infectious spirit, unwavering determination and boundless love will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of being part of her remarkable journey.
