Robert Bolick will be presented with the first PBA Best Player of Conference award

ROBERT Bolick was besieged by rookie Stephen Holt and veterans June Mar Fajardo and Christian Standhardinger in the race for the PBA Philippine Cup Best Player of the Conference.

The four emerged as the biggest threat to Bolick’s bid to win his first-ever BPC award, based on the final statistical point standings released at the end of the eliminations.

Bolick, NLEX’s high-scoring guard who leads the league in both scoring (27.4) and assist (7.0), continued to lead the race with a total of 44.5 statistical points.

But Holt, the top Terrafirma rookie, has risen in the rankings, securing second spot with 41.5 sps behind his all-around numbers of 21.0 points, 8.4 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 2.5 steals.

The 6-foot-4 Fil-Am makes a strong case for the individual award after Terrafirma claimed the eighth and final spot in the quarterfinals with a 104-96 victory over Northport on Wednesday night.

Fajardo currently ranks third with 41.0 sps and leads the league with a rebound average of 14.1, along with his 16.0 points and 2.8 assists as San Miguel emerged as the top-ranked team heading into the play-offs.

Standhardinger made the biggest jump in the BPC race after taking over the fourth spot from No. 10 halfway through the eliminations. The Fil-German big man has 38.9 sps behind averages of 19.9 points, 11.2 rebounds and 5, 1 assists as Ginebra secured second spot in the quarterfinals behind San Miguel.

Arvin Tolentino slips

Arvin Tolentino fell out of the rankings, previously from No. 2 to No. 6, as Northport failed to advance to the playoffs after losing in its do-or-die match against Terrafirma.

Batang Pier’s top scorer finished with a 36.4 total of 21.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists, leaving fifth man CJ Perez of San Miguel behind with 38.7 sps. Winner of the BPC Commissioner’s Cup, the wingman from San Miguel averaged 21.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.3 steals in the elims.
