UFC News: Dana White Gets Headache As Islam Makhachev Demands Madison Square Garden Amid Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic Demand

Dana White is therefore in a major dilemma Islam Makhachev! Days after Stipe Miocic the CEO of the UFC asked for a fight in Madison Square Garden, Makhachev has submitted the same request. Yes, people! You heard that right! The lightweight champion is looking to defend his title at UFC 309, the same event where Miocic is expected to fight Jon Jones for the heavyweight title. This puts White and the UFC in a pretty tight spot indeed.

In a recent conversation with the former UFC fighters said Chael Sonnen And Daniel CormierDuring Sonnen’s talk show, “Good Guy/Bad Guy,” Makhachev made the big revelation while answering one of the questions DC asked him. But what did he say? Let’s find out.

During the conversation, the former UFC heavyweight champion asked Makhachev about his expectations for his upcoming fight. Ready to land against Dustin Poirier at UFC 302, the Dagestani fighter said he was quite excited. However, the request was to come back and defend his title again (provided he won against Poirier) at Madison Square Garden.

“You know, I’m happy to be here and defend my title for the first time in the US. And honestly, if I defend my title now, I want to come back and defend my title again in Madison Square Garden,” the lightweight champion replied. Without a doubt, the words sent shockwaves through the MMA world. Why? Because this wasn’t the first time Makhachev revealed his desire to fight at MSG.

In January 2024, with the main card of UFC 302 yet to be announced, the Dagestani champion went to X and expressed his desire to fight Justin Gaethje in June. But he had plans for a second fight this year.

The mixed martial artist also hinted at a possible rematch against Charles Oliveiraor a fight with Arman Tsarukyan at UFCMSG. “June 8 UFC PPV vs (Gaethje), November UFC MSG vs Olivera/Arman, February 2025 vs Anybody Inshallah,” the fighter announced in the tweet. Now let’s shift our focus to Miocic’s desire.

To talk with Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson on the JAXXON podcast, ‘Stone Cold’ announced he would fight Jones for the heavyweight title around November, hinting at New York’s Madison Square Garden as the venue for the event. He revealed, “They (UFC) talked about July, that passed… I think more – maybe November again in New York.”

However, now that Makhachev has come forward with a request for the same location, the UFC is on alert. Would Dana White have both Miocic and Makhachev have their fights at MSG in the same event?
