“I’m a do-it-all guy”

“I want to be in the top 15, and this fight could get me that,” Mateusz Rebecki said at this week’s UFC St. Louis media day.

Poland’s Rebecki (19-1) faces another tough test at the Fight Night event taking place at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri. He has been paired with Brazilian Carlos Diego Ferreira, who has shared the octagon with some big names.

This was not lost on Rebecki, who described Ferreira as “a very good fighter. I’m happy to fight him because he’s fought (Dustin) Poirier and a lot of stars in the UFC. I can fight this guy and I feel like I can beat him.

How will he beat Ferreira? Well, that’s a bit up in the air. “I don’t know. I’m a guy who does everything,” said Rebecki. “I feel very good on the ground, I can wrestle well and also punch well. This opponent is difficult, his style, because he also does everything .We’ll try (to see) who’s the better fighter, on the ground, through wrestling or punching. Maybe we’ll look for a gap to find out.’

When Rebecki finally got to fight a big name in the UFC, he beamed. “It’s a great feeling. It was my big dream, to fight with a top man. I never thought I could do that, and on Saturday it will happen.”

Mateusz Rebecki also addressed the legendary “Polish Power” during the media day on Wednesday and asked if he owned it.

“I think I have that because a lot of people at American Top Team talk to me about Polish Power. Maybe it’s true,” said Rebecki, who said he had a good performance and showed it. “We are in good spirits in Poland.”
